Setting Up Your New ACS Laptop

Setting up your new ACS laptop (PC/Windows)

Please save the box your ACS laptop was shipped in. This makes it easier for you to ship it back to us in the future.
  1. Plug in your power adapter and turn on your ACS laptop
  2. Follow the prompts to connect your laptop to a wireless or wired network
  3. Log into your ACS laptop with your ACS Microsoft 365 account
  4. Windows will configure and set up your machine. This process can take up to an hour to complete in some cases. You will be asked to log in and verify your identity via two-factor authentication (have your cell phone handy!), and the computer will reboot automatically a few times.
  5. When the setup process completes and you find yourself logged into your ACS laptop looking at the desktop for more than 5 minutes and nothing seems to be happening, continue with the following steps. At this point in the process, security settings have been applied, and a few apps have been installed for you (Adobe Reader, Dropbox, Google Chrome, and Slack).
  6. Install the Microsoft Company Portal App from the Microsoft Store by opening the “Microsoft Store” from your installed applications list
  7. Click “Search” in the upper right corner of the Microsoft Store app and enter “Company Portal”in the search box
  8. Follow the prompts to install this app. It may ask you to login, you can click “No Thanks”
  9. Next, open the newly installed “Company Portal” app
  10. Validate that Microsoft Office 365 is installed by viewing it under your available “Apps” in the Company Portal. If it is not installed, click “Install.”
  11. When the installation completes, reboot your ACS laptop
NOTE: Often, a USB Smart Card reader is included with your new ACS laptop. There will be mention of it in the paperwork you receive with your equipment. Please be careful not to discard it. If you require secure access to web-based resources using PKI or your CAC, please submit a new ticket here on ACS Get Help. We will assist you will installing the USB Smart Card reader, proper drivers, software, and browser certificates.
